Dream: builds
Helping kids around the world learn and thrive by building schools.
When you fund dream: builds, you’re helping children attend schools closer to home and allowing our local partners to own and operate their schools.

Our projects
Check out the schools we’re funding to help kids Dream bigger. Every school is built and led by our local partners to ensure quality learning is a reality for generations to come.
Suubi Academy in Uganda
Our local partner, Project Yesu, purchased two acres of land and they began planning to build a primary school named Suubi Academy in 2019. With your help, Suubi — which means hope — can bring quality education for up to 700 students every year across pre-school to seventh grade in their home village of Musima, Uganda.
Why is it necessary to build new facilities?
Operational Costs
In many developing countries, families must pay tuition fees for their children to be able to attend school. Since many families can’t afford the tuition, our local partners have the option to help cover rising school fees for students to attend other schools or they can limit their costs by building their own schools.
Stability
When our local partners provide students scholarships to attend other schools, they have less control over the stability and quality of education. However, when local partners own and operate their schools, students can feel safe and more connected to their school community — helping students improve their attendance, behave better, and excel academically.
Access
Many developing countries don’t invest enough in building schools, leaving some children without a school in their town. At best, these children can obtain a scholarship to attend school outside of their hometown, and at worst, they never attend school. By building new schools, we are creating the infrastructure necessary for kids to begin learning closer to home.
Ownership
We believe that local organizations and local leaders should have the opportunity to run their own schools. When communities and families get to be involved every step of the way, they are able to guide the education of their most precious gifts — their children — and make the best decisions for their upbringing.
FAQs
We’re currently fundraising to help build our first school in Musima, Uganda, with our local partner, Project Yesu. To help kids learn closer to home, Project Yesu purchased 2 acres of land and built the main office for the school. The remaining buildings, like the community center and classrooms, will be constructed in phases, contingent on funding.
With a local-first mindset, we provide grants to local partners in developing countries, helping them build schools to serve kids in their communities. Before partnering with local organizations, we evaluate our prospects’ approach to their school builds (we call ‘em Dream: builds) and if we share a commitment to high-value and transparent work. If we’re aligned, our local partners make a proposal including details like the land sourcing, purchasing, and construction processes. Then, we move forward with our partnership and begin fundraising to make the new Dream: build a reality. We believe local leaders know their communities best and are most equipped to guide the planning and implementation of our Dream: builds — and we’re excited to work collaboratively with them to build long-lasting schools.
Our local partners own the land and schools. We strongly believe every school we help fund should belong to our local partners — and the community it serves by extension. That way, the citizens can take ownership and pride in the facilities their children attend, ensuring they provide quality education for generations to come.
The short answer is our local partners lead the planning and building process of their schools — with our support along the way. We encourage every partner to guide the discovery process to evaluate the most suitable site, the implementation to ensure fruitful community engagement, and the post-monitoring to oversee the school’s success.
